　　林昌嗣承认杀害了沙安答与康连城，至于康连城的首级被扔在何处，林昌嗣已经记不清楚，只是记得扔到了城外。庾瓒认为案件已经非常清楚，林昌嗣就是连杀两人的凶手，康国副使却察觉到不对劲，林昌嗣认罪积级似是在为人顶罪，康国副使要求庾瓒继续深入调查案件。韦若昭也觉得林昌嗣在说谎，为了套出林昌嗣的底细，韦若昭找到翘翘，劝说翘翘到牢房探望林昌嗣，林昌嗣已经认了罪时日不多，他最大的愿望就是能见翘翘最后一面。翘翘架不住韦若昭劝说，到牢房与林昌嗣见了一面，林昌嗣提醒翘翘无需再慌张，他已经认了罪。翘翘似是有不可告人的秘密，脸上露出不悦，提醒林昌嗣不要胡说八道。林昌嗣希望翘翘能给他许一个来世，到了下一世，他想跟翘翘重续前缘。翘翘冷漠无情，拒绝了林昌嗣的要求，在林昌嗣绝望的呼声中，翘翘转身离开牢房。韦若昭一行人藏在拐角处偷听，众人对翘翘产生了怀疑，翘翘对待林昌嗣无一丝情意，连一句安慰的话都不肯说，由此说明她可能在利用林昌嗣。翘翘回到酒楼后院，悄悄挖出一颗人头，藏在旁边的官差立时冲了出来，团团围住翘翘，翘翘见自己的罪行已经败露，只能向庾瓒招供，承认自己杀害了康连城。康连城与翘翘有私情，因其玩弄感情生性风流，引来翘翘不满，渐而生起了杀念。做案当晚，翘翘趁着康连城在床上熟睡，悄悄溜到厨房里面找了一把菜刀，返回房间杀死了康连城，将其首级埋葬在院子里面。真相大白，翘翘便是杀害康连城的凶手，至于乐师沙安答之死，则是林昌嗣所为，林昌嗣为了替翘翘顶罪，杀掉沙安答混淆视听，他的行为没有换来翘翘感动，翘翘喜爱的人始终是康连城。虽然康连城已经身亡，但她经常悄悄到院子里面喝酒，怀念康连城。案件终于告破，庾瓒准备回府，康国副使发现康连城的首级有问题，康连城的耳朵上打过一个耳洞，停放在酒楼中的首级的耳朵上没有耳洞，由此说明首级并非康连城本人，而是另有其人。独孤仲平开始分析案件，重新推翻之前已经查出的真相，从新的角度推敲康连城的死因。
